New Survivor Support Services Launched in Passaic and Union Counties

The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) is comprised of programs working across the state to provide 24-hour free, confidential support services for survivors of sexual violence.

Recently, we welcomed new programs in Passaic and Union Counties, and we’re happy to introduce them and the services they each provide.

Serving the Passaic County community:

Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV), Center for Family Services

Hotline: 856-408-3164

The Center for Family Services SERV Passaic program provides support to survivors of sexual violence to help people in their journey toward healing and empowerment.  Support is offered for survivors and those close to them through their 24/7 hotline, online chat, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, safe housing, education, and counseling and support groups. All services are free of charge, strictly confidential, culturally sensitive, and bilingual.

Serving the Union County Community:

Peace of Mind Foundation

Hotline: 908-233-7273

The Peace of Mind Foundation provides confidential, trauma-informed services for survivors of sexual violence in Union County, including a 24-hour hotline, crisis counseling, advocacy, and accompaniment (not including SART activations). Their program integrates evidence-based and somatically focused trauma therapies such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), alongside mind-body and creative healing practices including yoga, meditation, and sandplay therapy. These approaches support nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and long-term healing for survivors and their loved ones.

YWCA Union County

Hotline: 908-355-HELP (4357)

YWCA Union County provides confidential sexual violence advocacy services, ensuring survivors have access to survivor‑centered and trauma‑informed support. They manage a 24-hour hotline for sexual assault response team (SART) activations with trained confidential sexual violence advocates (CSVAs) available to provide free, compassionate, and confidential support and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence. Advocates can accompany survivors to hospitals and police stations and help survivors with navigating systems and resources.

Please note that both programs offer distinct services for the Union County community. YWCA Union County provides Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) activation services, with the Peace of Mind Foundation providing all other core support services for the county. We are grateful to these programs for their commitment to serving survivors and creating safer and more supported communities across NJ.
