Sexual Violence Programs

NJCASA’s Sexual Violence Programs are located in each county in New Jersey and at the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance at Rutgers University. Each sexual violence program provides a variety of services to survivors of sexual violence and their family and friends. Services provide include, but are not limited to:

• Confidential and anonymous 24-hour crisis hotline
• 24 hour Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate accompaniment to medical exams, police interviews, court dates, and other appointments resulting from sexual violence
• Short term individual and group counseling and support groups
• Educational presentations
• Referrals for long term counseling
• Language services available for survivors who do not speak English

Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates

Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates (CSVAs) are sexual violence program staff or volunteers who have completed a minimum of 40 hours of training endorsed by the New Jersey Division on Women’s Office on the Prevention of Violence Against Women. Communication between survivors and CSVAs is confidential and is protected by NJ State law. CSVAs help survivors by providing them with options and supporting their decisions. Survivors can request to speak with a CSVA by calling their local sexual violence program’s 24-hour hotline.
